Values and Principles: Expanded Narrative
TOTAL DEPENDENCE UPON GOD
We live in dependence upon God as we seek to do His work, in His
way, and for His Glory. AUTHORITY AND FOUNDATION OF SCRIPTURE
We devote ourselves as an organization and individually to a
lifetime of understanding and obeying God’s Word in the canonical
scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. All of our training and
mission planning will be rooted in and tested by scripture.
PRAYER
Prayer is central to every aspect of Global Teams. Jesus did only
what He saw His Father doing and so must we. By our own efforts, we
cannot discern or accomplish God's work and plan. We are committed to a
vital living relationship with the Lord through prayer and other
spiritual disciplines so that we might know His will. Therefore, we
bathe decisions and all aspects of the work in prayer. The Leadership
Team and Board of Directors pray for each other by name daily. Every
Global Teams member recruits a personal intercessory team committed to
daily prayer. INCARNATIONAL, CROSS-CULTURAL MINISTRY
As the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) we “take flesh
and dwell” in the cultures we seek to reach. Jesus left His glory to
go on the ultimate cross-cultural mission so that He might show us the
way to the Father. Paul's deep passion was to be faithful to the Gospel,
ministering within the flesh or skin of the culture... all things to all
people...in order that some might be saved (1 Corinthians 9:19 ff). We
are committed to language and culture learning as a means of enhancing
our relationships with people of different cultures. We model
incarnational ministry as we equip the world-wide church to mobilize to
reach the unreached. MULTICULTURAL (MULTINATIONAL) TEAMS
We intend to work through multicultural (multinational) teams in
every facet of the work of Global Teams. Revelation 7:9 describes
worship in heaven as a gathering of men and women from every tribe and
nation before the Lamb of God. Global Teams recruits and empowers
multinational teams of missionaries. Jesus and Paul emphasized the
interdependence of the body of Christ in using gifts to accomplish His
task. Global Teams uses the synergy of interdependent Christ-like
relationships to accomplish mission work. CHRIST -LIKE
RELATIONSHIPS
We seek to honor God in our relationships.
We minister in love to one another and maintain open accounts to
resolve conflict among all members of Global Teams and with our partners
in host nations. Matthew 5: 21-26 and Matthew 18:15-17 provide the
Biblical precedents. COMMITMENT TO BUILDING UP OTHERS
We are committed to a lifestyle of building up others for works of
service as they live the lives of purpose that God designed for them
(Eph. 4:11-12). We are intentional in developing patterns of spiritual
life and life long learning that foster spiritual development, personal
ministry, learning and language goals. We take a holistic view of health
including spiritual, physical, and mental dimensions.
MULTIPLICATION
We seek to be catalysts that seed mission sending movements among
churches, and people movements among the unreached. Such movements will
share common, biblical values and dynamics while they will differ in
many aspects according to their cultural contexts. FINANCIAL
PARTNERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY
We seek to foster interdependence with our financial partners so
that we might share together in the ministry of giving AND receiving
(Philippians 4:15). Financial supporters share fully in the Gospel
blessing (Philippians 1:5,7). Our approach to Partner Development
includes relational connection and mutual ministry. Global Teams uses
transparent reporting and accounting procedures. INNOVATIVE AND
PROACTIVE
We seek to be innovative leaders in the mission movement. Creative
and innovative ministry ideas are encouraged as our members follow what
the Lord is doing (John 5:19). We strive to be proactive in response to
change. |
